How we can help
The British Embassy in Budapest furthers the interests of the UK in Hungary through broadly based co-operation which is of benefit to both countries.
The Political Section of the Embassy, or Chancery, promotes bilateral political relations between the UK and Hungary, and works closely with the Hungarian Government to address international issues of concern. This part of the embassy is also responsible for cooperation and projects between the UK and Hungarian partners.
The Trade and Investment section supports British exports to, and investment in, Hungary, providing a wide range of services to both British and Hungarian businesses.
The Public Diplomacy section provides information about Britain and British Government policies to the media and to the general public. It offers press, radio and television services for journalists, and offers an extensive range of general information and free publications about the UK and British culture.
The Consular section provides consular services and help to British Citizens in Hungary. It issues British passports, and registers births and deaths of British subjects in Hungary.
The Visa section receives about 1400 visa applications per year for travel to the United Kingdom, as well as some Commonwealth countries and UK Overseas Territories.
