HE Jonathan Knott, British Ambassador to Hungary
Welcome to our website!
We are the official representation of the British Government in Hungary. Thank you for your interest in the United Kingdom and in the services and information we can offer. Our job is to promote British interests in Hungary, working with our Hungarian counterparts to develop partnerships of value to us both in a wide range of fields.
You can discover information on this website about the close relationship between Britain and Hungary. Did you know that we are one of the biggest investors in Hungary as well as one of Hungary’s biggest trade partners? Many British companies now operate in Hungary, including some of our best known commercial brands.
There are frequent high-level contacts between our two countries, and there have been many bilateral meetings at ministerial level recently, not least in connection with Hungary's Presidency of the European Union. But there are many other links between British and Hungarian organisations and individuals, most of them happening with no need for Embassy involvement. This is healthy and as it should be. Overall, the high level of interchange between our two countries illustrates the importance of our relationship.

I would recommend British nationals who are either resident in or visiting Hungary take advantage of our online consular registration service. The Foreign Office offers this service to provide help in crisis situations and reduce delay and worry in times of stress for family and friends at home.
